This year, GIC organised the very first German Pavilion at Hong Kong FinTech Week, enabling fintech innovators from Germany to connect and engage with the Hong Kong ecosystem. During a special afterparty on 3 November, our start-up delegates had the opportunity to pitch in front of a keen audience of finance professionals, investors, and innovation enthusiasts.
Kudos to our six German start-ups for showcasing the ingenuity and forward-thinking spirit of German fintechs:
- Bitbond (Felix Stremmer)
- iVE.ONE (Phong Dao)
- stegx.finance (Daniel Radwansky)
- KYT Holding (Stefan Kohler)
- HAWK:AI (Eric Margaryan)
- OWNLY (Dr. Nicholas Ziegert)

We would like to give a big shout-out to Karena Belin and the team at WHub for putting together Hong Kong FinTech Week 2023 in such brilliant fashion. The international and diverse field of attendees provided an excellent environment to gain insights from the global fintech community, engage in meaningful interactions, and explore new business opportunities.
FinTech Innovation: Germany and Hong Kong
At the afterparty on 3 November, our start-up delegates were able to connect with various stakeholders from the fields of finance and governance.
In an insightful panel discussion moderated by Mann Yim of our event partner NEXX, Devon Sin from ZA Bank, Kaiwan Turel from HSBC, Roy Prayikulam of INFORM GmbH, and Wilson Chan of Cyberport discussed the latest trends and future role of fintech in shaping financial services. Afterwards, our German start-ups had the opportunity to pitch their innovative solutions in FinTech, RegTech, and WealthTech, and dive into deeper discussions with the panellists and guests. As a special highlight of the night, Jan Karnath, Co-Founder & CEO of Timeless Investments and semi-finalist in the Global Scaleup Competition Hong Kong, joined us for an inspiring pitch and to share his insights into what it takes to build a successful fintech business.
We look forward to continuously nurturing the exchange and partnership between Germany and Hong Kong, building bridges in fintech that connect markets, cultures, and innovative minds!
